Meet the Principal
Welcome to Gibbs! I am Michelle Schrantz and so proud to be the principal. This is my sixth year at Gibbs. I am so honored to walk into our school each day to work with our amazing penguin family members! Everyone individual that enters our doors immediately become a member of our family. The caring staff and supportive parents are what makes Gibbs and excellent school. When you see me please give me a high five.
In my time away from school I spend mainly with my family. I have my daughter and son-in-law with two children as well as my mom who also call Rochester home. We have a cabin and that is where I rejuvenate in the summer with activities such as boating, biking kayaking and just enjoying the outdoors. I also attend my grandchildren’s sporting events as well as follow our Minnesota Twins and Vikings. My husband and I love to travel and tend to do the tropical vacations over spring break.
What's the best part about being the Principal?
The best part about being a leader in the Rochester Public Schools is the amazing students, families, and staff that I have the opportunity to partner with throughout their journey.
My favorite part of the school day is...
My favorite part of the school day is the beginning of the day. I am often in the hallway greeting kids, getting hugs and high fives as they enter. Seeing their smiles and hearing their stories of the night before is the best way to start the school day. Spending time with them at lunch and recess is also a highlight.
I am proud of Gibbs because of...
When I am asked what I am most proud of in regards to Gibbs it is undoubtedly the relationships! We have amazing parents who are very supportive of our teachers and students. The PTA is great to work with and always welcomes new members. Our staff very much become second families for our students and care and love them as their own children.
