We are saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Joyce Gibbs, wife of the late George W. Gibbs Jr., for whom Gibbs Elementary was named. Joyce had a long history of substitute teaching at our school and of volunteering in our classrooms. In 2023, we had the privilege of welcoming Joyce and her daughter Leilani for a visit, where they shared memories and reconnected with familiar faces. Joyce will be missed and will always be a part of the penguin family here at Gibbs. Our hearts are with those close to the Gibbs family who are grieving this loss.
